We know setting up a new hosting installation can be a time-consuming hassle. Definitely if you have to start from scratch. As Hypernode we want you to spend your time focusing on the things you are good at, and therefore hope to make it as easy as possible with this awesome new service: the Shopware pre-install. It is available for both Shopware 5 and 6.
What do I get when I use the Shopware pre-install?
We have installed the necessary software including a database for you already. We prepare the Shopware version of your choice with the connected standard settings. Settings such as Nginx, PHP, ElasticSearch and MySQL are already installed for you. Therefore you can directly start twitching it to your personal preferences. Basically, we do the preparation, so you should directly be able to start importing your data to the Hypernode.
How can I install the pre-install?
The pre-install can be installed in two ways:
- On a new Hypernode
- On an already existing Hypernode
Pre-install on a new Hypernode
The pre-install can easily be used when ordering a new Hypernode using our English Control Panel. Ordering a new Hypernode can be done through our website. After choosing the preferred plan for your shop, you select the application you want, such as Shopware 5 and 6. In order to make use of the pre-install, you can easily checkmark the box that says “Pre-install a default application for the selected configuration”. Press continue, finish the order flow and BOOM, you’’ll have a Hypernode with a pre-install for your Shopware shop.
Important: This is route is (yet) only available for the English Control Panel. If you are using the Dutch Control Panel, you can make use of the pre-install by adding it through the CLI after having purchased a plan here. Further instructions can be found in the next paragraph.
Already have an existing node?
Not a problem! You can easily add the pre-install to your already existing Hypernode using the Command Line Interface. Using only one command your installation will be installed automatically. The codes differentiate for Shopware 5 and Shopware 6, so check out the page of your preference for more detailed instructions on installing a pre-install through the CLI.
Do I want to use Shopware 5 or Shopware 6?
Shopware 5 is a very user friendly installation, which Shopware released a while ago. Now, Shopware 6 is the successor of Shopware 5. There are many new functions and options included in this version, which could make your webshop faster, more efficient and easier to use. Nevertheless, Shopware 5 has proven to be of great quality and is supported by a large community due to its excellent way of working.
It is important to take into account the support Shopware gives to both installations. Shopware 5 is the eldest version and will only be supported until 07/2024, however these are just critical security releases. The regular releases including new features only happen until 07/2021. Shopware is expected to support Shopware 6 much longer as it’s their latest version. A date for its end-of-life has not been published. Unlike the migration from Magento 1 to 2, the migration from Shopware 5 to 6 is fairly easy due to the Shopware’s migration tool(s).
