Unfortunately this means that clients and partners may become demotivated or opt to delay migration due to perceived complexities and fears that their bottom line may be impacted. While migration is by no means easy we find this perception unfortunate, as with proper preparation, migration can be a relatively straightforward process.

To address this, we offer a complimentary migration service to all new clients and partners. This service involves the cost-free migration of the online store to Hypernode, with us taking responsibility for 95% of the migration process. The remaining 5% involves obtaining the necessary access rights and making adjustments during the actual migration. A process in which you, the user, are inherently a part of.

Close Communication and Client Involvement

Effective communication is a cornerstone of the Hypernode onboarding process. We maintain close contact with clients or partners throughout the migration via email, temporary Slack channels, or phone calls. This ensures that you are always well-informed about the progress of your migration and are always able to address any concerns or questions you have with us.

Building Confidence in Performance

We don’t expect you to migrate to Hypernode based on what we say alone. Before clients commit to Hypernode, we make sure to showcase the performance and capabilities of our platform to their fullest extent. To achieve this, we create an identical copy of the online store and run it on the plan that we recommend. This mirror site is accessible via a URL we provide you, allowing you to browse, test, and conduct thorough reviews to your heart’s content. This meticulous testing phase is crucial, as it mitigates the risk of unexpected issues when the online store is officially migrated to Hypernode. We want our clients to be confident that their online store will continue to function optimally after the migration.

It’s more than just proof of concept of course, it’s also a way we can make the improvements to your store tangible! Once you’re happy that everything is running to spec we can move on with the rest of the onboarding process, and you know exactly what you can look forward to.

The Art of Migration

If you like what you see and have decided to migrate to Hypernode, we set a date and time for the start of the migration process. You can expect a limited amount of downtime once migration has started, as it’s impossible to avoid. That said, we work closely with our clients to ensure minimal impact on your store, sales, and operations.

The migration involves a series of precise steps, each executed with care to ensure a smooth transition:

  1. Code/media synchronisation.
  2. Placing the old environment in maintenance mode (initiating downtime.)
  3. Placing the new environment in maintenance mode.
  4. Exporting the database.
  5. Verifying the completeness of the database.
  6. Updating DNS settings.
  7. Importing the database.
  8. Activating SSL.
  9. Deactivating cronjobs on the old server.
  10. Activating cronjobs on the new server.
  11. Turning off maintenance mode on the new server after the database import.
  12. Bringing the shop back online.
  13. Cleaning the cache.
  14. Conducting a test order and logging into the backend.

Post-Migration Evaluation

Following a successful migration, we deliver the online store to you for testing. This lets you independently verify that all components function as expected based on the expectations we set together at the start of this process. Did everything go as planned? Great! Once we receive confirmation that things are running smoothly we finalize the migration process and transition to the after-care phase of the trajectory. Welcome to Hypernode!

The After-Care Trajectory

The after-care phase is all about making sure you succeed post-migration and have any and all the information you need. We start by providing a series of emails with additional information about Hypernode’s products and services. These cover topics such as how Hypernode Support operates, how to contact support outside office hours, server up- or downgrades, and potential add-on products.

Our commitment doesn’t end here. After 14 days, we proactively reach out to the client once again, either through a survey or a phone conversation, to evaluate the migration experience. Your feedback is incredibly important to us, and we need to know you’re getting the best experience possible. The survey fields questions about your happiness at Hypernode so far, and also opens the floor to any specific points you want to discuss that may require our attention. This conversation also serves as an opportunity to touch base about finalising the onboarding process, and to motivate you to ask us any questions you may still have.
